Hannity gives Trump advice on Twitter usage

Fox News host Sean Hannity has offered sage advice to President Trump about using Twitter to highlight his accomplishments instead of holding press briefings.

Hannity’s monologue Friday evening took aim at the mainstream media and the barrage of fake new stories swirling about the administration. He also used the platform to voice his support for Trump’s suggestion of putting an end to daily press briefings.

“As long as they keep reporting fake news, bizarre conspiracy theories and show this bizarre fascination and paranoia about Russia, how about no more press conferences for the Hillary Clinton-colluding media?” Hannity said.

President Trump posted a tweet Friday that hinted at canceling future press briefings in order for his administration to avoid scrutiny for briefing the public with inaccurate information, which is not the first time he has suggested the idea.

During an interview with Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro, he reportedly talked about ending the briefings in lieu of holding a biweekly press conference by himself.

“Well, just don’t have them. Unless I have them every two weeks and I do them myself, we don’t have them,” he said. “I think it’s a good idea. First of all, you have a level of hostility that’s incredible and it’s very unfair.”

Hannity seemed to back this idea, saying Trump can more effectively reach the American people through the use of social media, and without the distraction of mainstream media distorting his messages.

He also offered these words of wisdom to the president:

“If the propaganda destroy-Trump media––if they’re gonna smear and slander him and his administration and his family and lie about facts and what he’s done, why bother? Why waste the energy trying to appease people who obviously hate his guts and want to destroy him?”

“I think every week, the president should tweet out all of his accomplishments, going back to day one, update people daily about what he’s doing and what he’s accomplishing, and… he can take to Twitter, he can respond to the barrage of attacks, this ridiculous conspiracy theory about Russia that is being pushed with no evidence.”

The White House has recently come under fire for a series of contradictions surrounding Trump’s decision to oust FBI Director James Comey.

Trump posted the following tweets addressing the criticism his administration has faced as of late:

“As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at [a] podium with perfect accuracy!” he wrote on Twitter.

He later wrote in a second tweet: “Maybe the best thing to do would be to cancel all future “press briefings” and hand out written responses for the sake of accuracy???”
