Hannity: GOP leadership “pushed Trump into Schumer and Pelosi’s arms”

Leading Fox News conservative personality Sean Hannity came out in staunch defense of President Trump’s dealings with the Democrats Thursday night, blaming Republican leaders for a lack of urgency in passing legislation.

Hannity went as far to call Republican leaders’ efforts a “failure” that has “pushed Trump into the arms of Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.”

“What you’re watching unfold here is the failure that has literally pushed this president into the arms of Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi,” Hannity said on Fox News. “Republicans in the House and Senate have zero sense of urgency, no sense of accountability. And even after promising for years and years and years they would deliver for you the American people, they have not.”

“So, with Republican lawmakers not in his corner, well, the president has few options. He can either wait around for Republicans to get their act together, or he can try to forge ahead on his own, and that means even reaching out to Democrats,” he said.

Trump last week circumnavigated Republican leadership to strike a deal with Schumer and Pelosi for a three-month temporary elevation of the debt ceiling in tandem with aid for Hurricane Harvey. Both Pelosi and Schumer came out and said Trump called them, asking for help in getting a permanent DACA bill through Congress, as well.

Other influential conservative voices have been less understanding. Ann Coulter slammed Trump’s fraternizing with the enemy, saying he is “off the Trump train” and suggesting he be impeached. Breitbart has taken to calling him “Amnesty Don.”  Our very own DML, tweeted to the president this morning about keeping his promises and putting American children first after the president claimed “chain migration would not be a part of any immigration legislation.”
