Hannity tweets response to disclosure of Cohen connection

Following the disclosure during a hearing on Monday by a lawyer representing Trump attorney Michael Cohen that Fox News anchor Sean Hannity is one of Cohen’s clients, Hannity responded in a two-part Twitter statement Monday afternoon:

“Michael Cohen has never represented me in any matter. I never retained him, received an invoice, or paid legal fees. I have occasionally had brief discussions with him about legal questions about which I wanted his input and perspective.

“I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party.”

The hearing Monday was in regards to documents seized by the FBI during a raid on Cohen’s home, office and hotel room last Monday. Cohen is trying to prevent the government from using the materials seized during the raid.

The Hill reported:

Cohen’s legal team had sought to keep Hannity’s identity anonymous in the hearing because of his public prominence, but U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood ordered Cohen to reveal the identity.

“I understand he doesn’t want his name out there, but that isn’t the law,” Wood said, according to Bloomberg.
