Here’s what Pence is doing to help Scalise

Vice President Mike Pence is showing support for Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) in words and action.

Scalise was injured last Wednesday when he was shot in the hip by a gunman, who fired on Republican members of Congress as they practiced for the Congressional Baseball Game in Virginia. To support his recovery, Vice President Pence donated blood Tuesday during a blood drive to benefit Scalise and others who were injured in the incident.

Fox News reports that the vice president donated blood at the Rayburn House Office Building. A Fox tweet reads: “Pence donates blood to support @SteveScalise, others injured in baseball shooting.”

The VP himself tweeted about the blood drive, writing: “Inspiring to see members of Congress & staffers at the blood drive organized to help those hurt in last week’s shooting.”

A tweet from Rep Scalise’s Twitter account thanked Vice President Pence. The tweet reads: “Thanks to @VP Pence for giving blood today in honor of those injured in last week’s attack. #TeamScalise.”
