The leader of Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group is in agreement with Donald Trump about one thing: the Obama administration founded ISIS.
Hassan Nasrallah quoted Trump at a rally in the country’s south Saturday, claiming the presidential candidate’s statements held truth and factual messaging. “This is an American presidential candidate who is saying this. What he says is based on facts and documents,” said Nasrallah.
However, Nasrallah has been preaching this rhetoric for awhile. He long claimed that the U.S. helped create and spark the rise of Islamic extremists to destabilize the Middle East. Though Trump later clarified that his comments were mostly fueled in sarcasm as a jab towards President Obama.
Nasrallah is best known for sending thousands of his fighters to Syria to shore up President Bashar Assad’s forces.
