High School soccer coach Elan Daniel Seagraves, 34, of Sacramento, was taken into custody Christmas morning on charges related to human trafficking and pimping of a minor, according to the Sacramento County sheriff’s office. He also worked as a ride-share driver.
The call came into 9-1-1 just before 3 a.m. Monday from a scared 17-year-old girl who said she was a victim of sexual assault and was being forced into human trafficking, the sheriff’s department said. She said she was hiding in the backyard of a home in south Sacramento County and that the person forcing her into human trafficking was waiting for her in a vehicle nearby.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Seagraves and another 17-year-old girl in a vehicle. Officers determined both teens were victims of human trafficking, officials said.
Seagraves worked as a soccer coach at Kennedy High School in Sacramento and was also a coach and referee in various youth soccer leagues in the area, deputies said.
He is being held in Sacramento County Jail in lieu of $2 million bail.
