Hillary calls meeting to figure out what went wrong

Still smarting from her devastating loss in the 2016 presidential campaign, The Hill reported on Sunday that Hillary Clinton gathered together her former campaign aides to meet with outside strategists and consultants in a quest to figure out exactly what went wrong.

Since the election, Clinton and her people have primarily blamed the loss on FBI director James Comey and Russia’s supposed interference in the 2016 presidential election. This is still her explanation, but she’s decided to go deeper into her investigation, which was the purpose of this weekend’s meeting.

According to The Hill, one source familiar with details of the meeting said, “I don’t think anyone learned all that much,” and another reported, “It wasn’t fun for the people who had to sit through it.”

Clinton has also been contacting donors, associates, and friends to get their take on the situation. According to one longtime pal, “She has tried her best to get a full account of what went wrong and where she could have done better.”

Another Clinton friend, Lynn de Rothschild, also a donor, publicly blamed campaign chairman John Podesta on Twitter. “HRC lost because you ran an arrogant out of touch campaign,” she tweeted, then calling Podesta a loser.

Friends recalled that Clinton couldn’t bear to read the headlines just after the election, preferring instead to take long walks close to her home in Chappaqua, N.Y. and dine out with husband Bill Clinton.

Reports of the failed candidate sporting a brave face emerged as she eventually left her cocoon to attend performances of “The Color Purple” and “Sunset Boulevard” on Broadway. She was even reportedly seen going grocery shopping recently.

“She’s in a much better place than she was in two months ago,” said one friend who claimed to have heard from her in the past few weeks. “I think she’s very much [more] forward -thinking and -looking than people think she is right now.”

Another Clinton confidante told reporters, “I don’t think she’s obsessing about the past, but she’s focused on a ‘country-first’ type thing.”

“Those around her say Clinton has taken it upon herself to not let Trump go unanswered. And in a string of posts on Twitter, she has been criticizing the president on a variety of issues, from the rise in domestic hate crimes to the travel ban,” said the report.

Trump responded to criticisms regarding his travel ban after it was blocked by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, tweeting, “SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!”

Clinton tried to taunt the president by replying “3-0” in a tweet of her own, a reference to the three-judge panel that ruled against him.

Possibly eyeing a political career of her own, daughter Chelsea uncharacteristically tweeted, “It’s as if the administration doesn’t understand the H, the B, the C, or the U (or understand why HBCUs were started & remain vital)” earlier this week about Trump, in a reference to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

It’s been reported that Clinton often complains to friends about the president’s “connection to Russian President Vladimir Putin,” suggesting that “no one seemed to care about it during the election.”

And in December, she reportedly said this during an event with her donors: “Putin publicly blamed me for the outpouring of outrage by his own people … that is the direct line between what he said back then and what he did in this election.”

The report speculated that Clinton’s current plans may include Clinton Foundation work or a possible run for mayor of New York City, although those close to her claim that she’s not interested.

Clinton has turned to a proven income stream, having taken to the speaking circuit, including an appearance this week at her alma mater, Wellesley College. While speaking, she was asked what she would do differently if she had to do it all over again, and her answer was definitive: “I’d win,” she claimed.
