Hillary Compares TPP to… Olympic Games?

On Thursday Hillary Clinton attempted to reassure supporters in Warren, Michigan that her anti-trade position on Obama’s Trans-Pacific Partnership is legitimate. It’s important to note Clinton famously lost Michigan’s primary to Sen. Bernie Sanders, who had stronger and more compact anti-trade credentials.

“I oppose it now, I’ll oppose it after the election and I’ll oppose it as president,” she said to eyeful crowd. Clinton has changed her stance numerous times, particularly when she went up against President Obama during the 2008 primaries.

Clinton then turned the tables toward Trump’s position on trade, claiming his is “based on fear” and a desire to “hide behind walls.”

Furthermore, she compared trade to America’s willingness to compete around the world by citing the Olympic games. “If Team USA was as fearful as Trump, Michael Phelps and Simone Biles would be cowering in the locker room,” she said.
