Although she has stated she will not be running for political office again herself, Hillary Clinton is taking action to empower other Democratic candidates.
Speaking at a Women for Women International event Tuesday in New York, hosted by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Clinton stated, “I’m now back to being an activist citizen and part of the resistance.”
Sources say she’s also launching a new Political Action Committee (PAC) as a way of “acting as a quiet catalyst” that will eventually help congressional candidates in the 2018 race, along with “organizations she cares about.”
According to Axios, Clinton’s new PAC will be focused on “lifting up organizations that are the product of the energy and activism she has seen since the election, and existing groups that have been reignited and reinvigorated by that energy.”
A source said Clinton has already met with some of these groups, and she’s becoming more passionate about the effort with each meeting.
Clinton reportedly plans to make a comeback as a paid speaker. Her speaker’s organization, The Harry Walker Agency, has a page inviting clients to “Book Hillary Rodham Clinton.”
She is also writing a new book, scheduled to come out in the fall, which is centered around advice she has received throughout her political career, and plans to publish, “It Takes a Village: Picture Book Edition.”
In her appearance at the Women for Women International Luncheon, Clinton claimed she would have won the presidential election if it hadn’t been for FBI Director James Comey and WikiLeaks.
The former presidential candidate also blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin, claiming he “certainly interfered in our election” and “coordinated” with the goals of Trump.
