On Tuesday morning, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton sent out a string of tweets giving kudos to the organization known as Emily’s List.
Emily’s List is a D.C. group that supports and helps fund getting women who support pro-choice into office. Clinton in her tweet accredits her success to them: “For more than 30 years,
@emilyslist has paved the way for women to run & succeed in elected office, including me.”
In a second tweet, Clinton then mentions how 15,000+ women who share the belief of pro-choice have reached out to Emily’s List, in hopes to run for office someday: “Today,
@emilyslist announced that 15,000+ women have reached out since Election Day about running for office! 7,000+ want to help them run.”
She then concludes in her final tweet: “Their determination & passion is truly inspiring. And I can’t wait to see what this new generation of women leaders accomplishes. Onward!”
If Emily’s List was a primary influential factor behind Clinton’s drive to run for office, then we can surely expect the organization will be pushing more women now for these positions who share key Clinton traits and ideas.
