Dartmouth history professor Mark Bray says that he believes America needs antifa to make free speech “more fundamentally fair”.

Promoting his new book titled: “Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook,” Bray addressed a packed house of students at the University of California, Berkeley on Monday about the virtues of antifa and its importance in modern society.

“Anti-fascism is a very informed historical tradition,” preached the former Occupy Wall Street organizer and antifa apologist, suggesting that the group’s violent tactics are justified because they’ve been around for a long time.

According to Bray, antifa demonstrators see violence as a means to stop the spread of totalitarian and racist ideas. He further claims that so-called anti-fascists “seek to make free speech more fundamentally fair” by fostering a situation where all individuals “feel comfortable participating equally in the public discourse.”

According to a report in The Washington Examiner, antifa members believe that the “liberal state” is restricted by capitalism: “In other words, by punching ‘fascists’ and destroying property, antifa is helping the victims of fascism speak their mind in a society where the First Amendment is unable to function on its own. Violence is the only solution.”

Police called the demonstrations against Milo Yiannopoulos’s appearance on campus last February as an “organized violent attack.” Despite the fact that Yiannopoulos, a homosexual, has repeatedly distanced himself from the alt-right, antifa continues to see him as a “fascist” and threatened his life if he spoke on campus.

Bray was unable to clearly define facism during his presentation, according to the report, but he specifically targeted the alt-right, urging “Republicans and conservatives to say that [facists] are not welcome.” He sees no other side to the story and is all-in for antifa, a strange position for a history teacher to take.

In fact, Bray is so supportive of the violent movement that he even plans to donate half of the proceeds from his book to an unnamed fund that helps pay for the legal, medical, and personal expenses of antifa activists.
