After being announced as the winner for best featured actress in a play at the Tony Awards on Sunday night, Actress Cynthia Nixon took that opportunity to slam President Trump in her acceptance speech without even saying his name.
A vocal Trump-hater, Nixon compared the story of “The Little Foxes”, which is about a family trying to get rich, to the Trump family, stating, “Eighty years ago [the author of the play] wrote, ‘there are people who eat the earth and eat all the people on it and other people who just stand around and watch them do it,’” said Nixon.
Calling the play “eerily prescient,” she added, “My love, my gratitude and my undying respect go out to all the people in 2017 who are refusing to just stand and watch them do it.”
