Horse manure sent to Sec. Mnuchin’s home, prompting bomb squad response

The Los Angeles home of Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin was investigated by a bomb squad Saturday night due to a mysterious package sent to the Bel Air residence.

It turns out the Christmas-themed packaged gift was horse manure. Mnuchin’s neighbor discovered the package on the driveway around 5:30 p.m. local time and called police.

This prompted a response from a bomb squad, who opened the gift-wrapped surprise and found a “pretty good quantity” of horse manure inside, LAPD Sgt. Briggs confirmed. Briggs also said the Secret Service would be picking up the box of feces on Sunday for further inquiry.

It is not known at this time who sent the package.
