House Judiciary Democrats are now calling for a full criminal investigation into Attorney General Jeff Sessions regarding his prior communications with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
The Washington Post published a story Wednesday evening reporting that Sessions spoke with Kislyak twice in 2016.
Democrat lawmakers have joined together in an uproar Thursday, demanding Sessions’ resignation.
Democrat members of the House Judiciary Committee shot off a letter to FBI director James Comey and U.S. attorney Channing D. Phillips Thursday, demanding that the FBI open a criminal investigation to find out whether Sessions lied under oath during his confirmation hearings.
The letter stated, “Efforts by Attorney General Sessions to assert that his testimony was not false or even misleading because he met with the Russian Ambassador in his capacity as a Senator, rather than a campaign representative, appear to be disingenuous at best as the questions put to him did not in any way ask if the meeting was campaign related.”
Sessions had been adamant that the two times he spoke with Kislyak were informal and had nothing to do with the Trump campaign.
