Huffington Post editors published, and then almost immediately deleted, a blog post on April 13 titled, “Trump Supporters Deserve To Die More Than I Do,” by writer, artist and musician Chris Cali.
Furious that President Donald dropped the “Mother of All Bombs” to kill nearly 100 ISIS terrorists in Afghanistan, Cali was upset that the bomb may have killed innocent civilians. Cali was also worried that the world could be on the verge of a major war with North Korea and contemplated whether his cold weather wardrobe will “be enough for this nuclear winter, or should I buy a new pair of long johns?”
Cali expressed his belief that if the United States becomes involved in a nuclear war, only those living in liberal-run cities on both coasts, such New York and Los Angeles would be affected. But he thinks the people who really “deserve to get nuked” are those who voted for Trump and live in the middle of the country in “some shit-hole town in Nebraska.”
Cali lamented, “The fact that the first Americans to be vaporized or poisoned with radiation in the coming nuclear war will be the ones who tried to stop this crazy train from leaving the station just seems kind of unfair.”
He goes on to slam “fly-over” states that aren’t worthy of bombing, including “that cesspool of a state Florida,” which he believes “is long overdue for a disaster to sink it into the ocean,” and notes that a “radical Islamic terrorist” wouldn’t “even stop to take a shit in a Walmart bathroom” in plains state cities, unlike the sanctuary city of San Francisco, where he says he lives.
Cali ends his rant by stating that Trump voters “are the people who should be filling the front lines of whatever war Trump wants to start so he and his billionaire buddies can profit off weapons manufacturing and oil contracts. These are the people who deserve to have their towns annihilated. These people are those who actually deserve to die in a war that they’ll line up to support. Not my ass. I have a lot to live for. They’ve already decided that they don’t.”
When the article was exposed by the Washington Free Beacon, writer Alex Griswold tweeted, “Serious question: does the Huffington Post have any editorial standards? At all?” and received this response from Huffington Post Editor-in-Chief Lydia Polgreen: “We do, which is why that blog on our platform was deleted almost immediately after it appeared.”
