Husband uses chainsaw to help wife in labor

One husband truly acted the hero on Monday, frantically wielding a chainsaw to remove a tree from a doorway so his laboring wife could make it to the hospital to deliver twins.

Heather Yavaliollah wasn’t due for another month, so when she was trapped inside the couple’s Atlanta home by a tree that fell during the chaos of Hurricane Irma, husband Mehrvarz Yavaliollah was willing to wait for authorities to clean it up.

But when Heather’s water unexpectedly broke, Mehrvarz’s husbandly instincts kicked into full gear. He sprinted to the shed, grabbed a chainsaw, and urgently set to work on the tree.

“My wonderful neighbors saw me outside. They kind of knew the situation, so they started grabbing limbs as I was cutting them off and helped move them to the street. So very thankful to them,” Mehrvarz Yavaliollah said.

It was an eventful morning. After successfully clearing a path for his wife, Mehrvarz had to think fast when the family truck decided not to start.

But eventually, the couple made it to Piedmont Hospital to witness Heather deliver two healthy baby boys, Stuart and Solomon.

Hurricanes don’t make preparing for childbirth easy.

“Everything looked fine, and we were not expecting anything to happen,” Heather Yavaliollah said. “And then Irma came along and changed all of that.”

As for the boys, born a month before their due date: “Sweet little angels,” their mom said. “So, Irma was no indication of their behavior.”
