TED CRUZ loves to point out how Donald Trump once donated money to Democrats. Using that as a base, Cruz then tries to sell the idea that because of Trump’s liberal-leaning donations — which Trump has repeatedly said he did for business purposes — voters should be concerned about who Donald will nominate to the Supreme Court if elected president. In other words, Cruz wants people to believe Trump will nominate liberals because he once donated to liberals. Cruz then rants on about how he would nominate only the most conservative judges. Really?
Michael Luttig, for whom Cruz clerked on the Fourth Circuit in the 1990s, left the judiciary in 2006 to become General Counsel and senior vice president for Boeing. Luttig is the man Cruz says he would have nominated to the Supreme Court instead of John Roberts. Well, turns out Luttig donated $1,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in 2008 — the year Obama was elected President, and Nancy Pelosi took over as Speaker of the House.
On a side note: Cruz always fails to tell how Trump has donated greater dollar amounts to Republicans than he has Democrats.
