The Trump administration’s immigration policies have hundreds of illegal immigrants panicking, as they try to obtain passports for their children so they can take them along if they are deported.
Gina is one of those illegal immigrants who has been in America for 16 years and has an 11-year-old son born here.
Gina stood on the exceedingly long lines forming at California’s passport centers to ensure her son has the proper documentation so he can travel with her should she be deported due to President Trump’s executive orders on immigration enforcement.
Gina told the local news station, CBS 13, “A lot of people are getting scared. They get scared that if they get separated, they can’t take the kids. I, pretty much, came just to protect my son. If anything happens to me, he can go with me, anywhere I go.”
Over the last several weeks, California passport centers have seen astronomically long lines filled with illegal aliens trying to obtain passports for their children. The lines are inconveniencing many Americans who are simply looking to get a passport.
Candy Scruggs is one of those Americans inconvenienced. Scruggs, along with her husband, had been trying for five days to get passports for travel.
One day, they showed up two hours early, but, within minutes of the center being opened, both were told to come back the next day.
Scruggs recounted, “It was a zoo. We couldn’t park. There must’ve been at least 150 people out here…, it was crazy. We stood in line, waited two hours, and then, finally, they came out and gave us a ticket and said, ‘We can’t take you today.’ And that was at 10:45 in the morning, 15 minutes after they opened. They still couldn’t take us.”
