Fort Worth police have confirmed that they have arrested an undocumented immigrant for kidnapping and raping a 6-year-old girl on Saturday.
Police say Edis Moya Alas kidnapped the girl from her home in southeast Fort Worth. Her father said he noticed the front door of their house was open and his daughter was missing around 5 a.m.
According to the Star-Telegram:
Moya Alas was taken into custody Saturday afternoon when the 6-year-old girl was found in the wooded area at Titus Paulsel Park, just over a mile from her home in the Polytechnic area. She was located after a resident assisting in the search reported hearing what sounded like a child screaming.
Officers say Moya is not cooperating with their investigation, and has yet to make a statement to the police.
Alas was interviewed by Immigration Customs Enforcement and it was determined he is in the country illegally and currently remains booked in the Mansfield Law Enforcement Correction Center.
Alas is being held on a $200,000 bond after being charged with aggravated kidnapping as well as aggravated sexual assault.
