In an apparent case of a smuggler getting cold feet, a U-Haul truck was left abandoned on the roadway in Edinburg, Texas, only a few miles from the Mexico border – with its cargo of illegal immigrants all still inside.
Sheriff deputies received a call about the abandoned truck sitting in the roadway Wednesday, June 15, about 1:30 a.m., near the intersection of Tower Road and Texas Road, in Edinburg, which is a suburb of McAllen, Texas.
When the deputies reached the truck, they unlocked the cargo door and discovered eight illegal aliens inside. The deputies made sure the illegals were all ok, then turned the scene over to Border Patrol.
