A video has come to light of an imam speaking at a prominent mosque in Virginia, giving a lecture on how to raise children and supporting genital mutilation.

Imam Shaker Elsayed gave the lecture, titled “Foundation of a Happy Family” at the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center on May 19. Included in his speech was a segment where he expressed approval and instruction for genital mutilation of young girls.

Elsayed claimed female genital mutilation (FGM) can be an “effective tool to prevent promiscuity among girls.”

Without it, “hyper-sexuality takes over the entire society and a woman is not satisfied with one person or two or three,” said Dar al-Hijrah, slamming countries that prohibit circumcision among girls.

Only the tip of a girl’s clitoris should be cut, he said, so that she is not “hyper sexually active,” otherwise it creates “serious harm in the sexual life of the child when she grows up. And this is why the West thinks of alkhikah as sexual mutilation…”

The Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center has been recognized by lawmakers as being affiliated with the Muslim American Society, which is the main arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States.

According to reports, a former imam at the same Islamic center was the late jihad leader Anwar al-Awlaki, who was reported to be a “spiritual adviser” to three of the 9/11 hijackers, and was also worshipped by former Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan, who murdered 13 Americans in the Texas massacre at Fort Hood.

In the video below, his comments on circumcision of children start at the 29 minute mark, where he says that it is the “honorable thing to do, if needed, for the girls.”
