While regular folks were gearing up for the Fourth of July festivities with backyard barbecues and fireworks-watching parties on Saturday, a star-studded collection of the world’s most powerful politicians (Democrats and Republicans), celebrities, and billionaires amassed at Washington Post editor Lally Weymouth’s Southampton, NY home to sip champagne and nibble on fried chicken and patriotic-themed cookies while they posed for pictures.

The regular folks noticed and began speculating on social media the reasons why supposed enemies were able to party with each other during a celebration that was as much about the nation’s birthday as it was about Weymouth’s own birthday… and maybe some other things that the average American may never be privy to.

The guest list included the unlikely pairings of Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, George Soros, Kellyanne Conway, Steven Spielberg, Bill Bratton, Charles Koch, Carl Icahn, and Sen. Chuck Schumer, among others.

Seeing the Kushners and Soros at the same party was a disappointment for Trump supporters who consider Soros to be a traitorous enemy of this country for funding organizations which openly advocate violence against President Trump and his supporters with paid protesters and the financial backing of Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton.

Just knowing that Kushner and Ivanka appeared at the same party with Soros was enough to put some people over the edge.

Weymouth’s brother, former Washington Post publisher Don Graham, reportedly made a speech about Weymouth’s birthday, which is on Monday and talked up the new Steven Spielberg film on The Post’s publication of the Pentagon Papers.
