Ivanka Integral in Trump’s New Tone at Congressional Address

President Donald Trump’s easy-going tone in front of Congress on Tuesday night has been highly praised, and his daughter Ivanka Trump is reported to be responsible.

According to Reuters, Ivanka was involved in a meeting on Sunday with the president and White House officials in regards to the upcoming address. Ivanka lobbied not only for specific policy points, but for President Trump to seriously consider the manner of his speech.

An anonymous official went on the record saying, “He had a lot of voices around him giving him ideas and suggestions that he incorporated, but he really set out to achieve that optimistic tone and that was something she was supportive of. She encouraged him to do that.”

President Trump also pressed upon heavily-liberal concerns, vowing to support aspects of less-burdensome child care and paid maternal leave. Such potential legislations were apparently offered by Ivanka, believing both sides of the aisle may be able to find common ground.

“Her fingerprints are visible on the tone, but especially on those parts of it like maternity leave that matter to her,” another source revealed.

Though President Trump is known to have been the primary author of the well-received speech that saw constituents heavily favor a more reserved tone, Ivanka is said to have had her father’s ear in the speech’s drafting as well.

The night’s most powerful moment came when President Trump acknowledged Carryn Owens, the widow of Ryan Owens who was killed in a January raid in Yemen. Mrs. Owens was seated next to Ivanka during the Congressional Address, and was visited by Ivanka at Dover Air Force Base upon the arrival of her husband’s remains.

This early in the Trump presidency, Vanderbilt professor and presidential historian Thomas Alan Schwartz is unsure if a president’s daughter has ever stimulated a presidency as much as Ivanka.

“It’s a way of reaching out on social issues and social welfare issues or issues that sometimes the Republicans are less identified with,” Schwartz said.
