Ivanka Offers Insight On Causes She Will Pursue

In continuing with her mission to promote policies that benefit women and girls, Ivanka Trump has recently sought advice from female business leaders in New York City.

Ivanka has long championed for better childcare policies.  In a Facebook post last week, she announced that she will be determining the “most impactful and appropriate ways” to serve the country, and listed the areas she is deeply passionate about, including “education and empowerment of women and girls; leveling the playing field for female entrepreneurs and job creators and unleashing the potential of women in the workplace.”

Ivanka’s future position is unclear in her father’s administration. She has stressed that she wants to focus on her family and her three young children and is also stepping away from executive roles at the Trump Organization and her apparel company, while her husband will serve as Senior Advisor to the President.

Breitbart reported that Ivanka attended a dinner Thursday with female executives, one of which was Dina Powell, a Goldman Sachs partner, who is joining the Trump administration assistant to the president and senior counselor for economic initiatives.  Other guests at the dinner included MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski, model Christy Turlington Burns, former White House press secretary Dana Perino, Xerox Chairperson Ursula Burns, Deloitte CEO Cathy Engelbert, Glamour Editor-in-Chief Cynthia Leive and Time Managing Editor Nancy Gibbs. The group discussed the recent outreach by the Trump transition team to the House of Representatives’ Ways and Means Committee staff in relation to Trump’s child care proposals.

Inspired by his daughter’s noteworthy cause, President-elect Donald Trump proposed a child care plan in September which includes a guaranteed six weeks of paid maternity leave for mothers, as well as the encouragement of employers to provide childcare to employees. Though such policy would require congressional approval, the crusade is only just beginning.
