Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka went head-to-head with Cosmopolitan interviewer Prachi Gupta regarding the presidential candidate’s past comments about women. The young and beautiful Trump Organization executive stood her ground against Gupta, and pointed out her father’s endorsement of her proposed policy regarding advanced maternity leave for mothers.
Gupta persistently pressed Ivanka on policy details. She made jaded statements toward Ivanka about the policy excluding same-sex couples and men. “The policy is fleshed out online, so you can go see all the elements of it. But the original intention of the plan is to help mothers in recovery in the immediate aftermath of childbirth,” said the CEO mother of three.
Gupta egged on. The interviewer then brought up a 2004 comment made by the Republican candidate about how pregnancy is “wonderful,” but an “inconvenience” to employers. That’s when Ivanka calls out Gupta on her negativity and clear intention to slander.
In her response, Ivanka proves to Gupta how her father is not only an advocate for women in the work environment, but has proven so by his businesses endeavors of hiring and helping promote women to top executive positions:
“So I think that you have a lot of negativity in these questions, and I think my father has put forth a very comprehensive and really revolutionary plan to deal with a lot of issues. So I don’t know how useful it is to spend too much time with you on this if you’re going to make a comment like that. My father obviously has a track record of decades of employing women at every level of his company, and supporting women, and supporting them in their professional capacity, and enabling them to thrive outside of the office and within. To imply otherwise is an unfair characterization of his track record and his support of professional women.”
