Numerous headstones situated in a Jewish Cemetery in Philadelphia were found damaged on Sunday.  The vandalism comes only a few days after more than 100 Jewish headstones in St. Louis were vandalized.

First reported by local television station ABC6, Philadelphia police stated that the degradation of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery was indeed an act of vandalism.

Aaron Mallin, a New Jersey resident visiting his father’s grave, found dozens of headstones on the ground and out of place.

“It’s just very disheartening that such a thing would take place,” said Mallin to ABC6. “I’m hoping it was maybe just some drunk kids. But the fact that there’s so many it leads one to think it could have been targeted.”

The Jewish Federation of of Greater Philadelphia also told ABC6 that the organization plans on opening a pathway for donations to be made at The group wants to begin accepting donations later today, hoping to expedite the process of repairing Mt. Carmel.

President Trump voiced his concerns earlier in the week regarding the acts of anti-semitism that are on the rise in the U.S.
