His mother says he’s a “good kid,” but 29 year old Lawrence Sullivan of Miami looks like a villain–specifically The Joker. His hair is dyed a neon shade of green, and his tattoos look as though he let a toddler with a Batman obsession draw all over his face.
It’s a good look for someone who wants to call attention to himself, but not so much if he’s doing something illegal… like waving around a loaded handgun at passersby… or smoking a marijuana joint in public. Those particular activities got him arrested twice in eight days.
According to a report in the Miami Herald, Sullivan “was arrested on May 23 after witnesses called police to report a man with green hair and facial tattoos waving a loaded handgun at drivers outside a West Kendall apartment complex.” He was charged with one felony count of carrying a concealed firearm.
A little more than a week after that, Sullivan was again approached by Miami police after they responded to a complaint for loitering and saw the green-haired man smoking what appeared to be a joint in front of an apartment complex.
“As soon as Mr. Sullivan observed these detectives, he attempted to throw the marijuana cigarette on the grass,” the arresting officer wrote his report.
The drug-related charges landed him in prison, where his unique appearance made him “special.” According to Sullivan, he was kept “on the psych floor ‘cause I take medications.” He added, “I was treated like a celebrity inside.”
According to Sullivan’s mom, the tattoos on his face were recently put there as an expression of his artistic side. “He has a lot of tattoos. But he’s a nice kid with some problems. He is mentally disabled and is handicapped,” she explained.
