On Sunday afternoon, Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro was pulled over and ticketed in New York for excessive speeding in her Cadillac.

State Police claim Pirro was driving a whopping 119 mph in a 65-mph zone when she was stopped by a trooper at around 1:15 p.m. in the Town of Nichols in Tioga County.

According to Pirro, who released a statement through Fox News, she was speeding to see her sick mother who lives in Elmira. “I had been driving for hours to visit my ailing 89-year-old mom and didn’t realize how fast I was driving,” she said. “I believe in the rule of law and I will pay the consequences.”

Pirro currently serves as the famous conservative host of the Fox News Channel show, “Justice with Judge Jeanine.” Before her breakthrough on television, Pirro served three terms as the Westchester County district attorney following her service of three years as a county judge.

Her ticket is returnable to court in the Town of Nichols, either by mail or in person on Jan. 8. According to a State Police spokesman, the only charge the 66-year-old former judge faces in the incident is speeding, but she may still face the loss of her driver’s license.

In a description on the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles website, a conviction of going more than 40 mph above the speed limit typically result in 11 points on a person’s driver’s license. An 11-point limit on a driver’s license is subject to automatic suspension.

Additionally, more points on one’s license usually result in the driver’s insurance payments rising. Drivers will also be required to pay a Driver Responsibility Assessment, spanning up to three years.
