This report reads like fake news, but the truth is it’s very real, and it’s a strong indication of how far the country has fallen when it comes to educating our own people. That’s assuming the juror in question isn’t a newly minted American from the never-ending pool of immigrants taken in each year, legally. Either way, can you imagine if your verdict hinged on the cluelessness of a juror who doesn’t know what a “senator” is and does?

No joke, according to multiple reports, including one from Fox News, one of the jurors in Democratic Sen. Robert Menendez’s corruption trial paused the second day of deliberations to ask the judge a question. The big mystery to the juror… “Just what is a senator, anyway?”

The juror also asked U.S. District Judge William Walls for a transcript of the closing argument delivered by Menendez’s attorney.

According to Fox News, Walls denied both requests and told the jurors to rely on their “individual and collective memories” of both the closing argument and the definition of a senator.

In his closing arguments in the case, Menendez’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, argued that Menendez had not taken bribes from wealthy Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen.

While Lowell conceded that Menendez and Melgen did favors for one another as friends, he insisted that Menendez never advanced legislation or improperly took official acts for Melgen’s benefit.

Prosecutors charge that Melgen, who is not one of Menendez’s constituents, provided Menendez with “luxury jet travel, extravagant vacations, and more than $750,000 in campaign funding in exchange for helping the eye doctor’s business through various official acts.”

The Menendez trial has gone on for months. In one report that we published earlier in the case, one juror fell asleep during the trial.

There is no question in my mind Menendez is guilty, but regardless of what I think, you have to ask yourself how dangerous is this juror?  On one hand, not knowing what a senator is marks a level of stupidity that leaves me wondering if they are fit to issue a guilty or not guilty vote. Politics aside, if I was on trial and this juror was on the jury, I’d end up in jail for beating up my lawyer. (That’s a joke).
