Nearly two weeks after he was readmitted to Medstar Washington Hospital Center due to complications after surgery to repair an internal gun shot wound damage in his hip, Rep. Steve Scalise has been released Wednesday from the intensive care unit.
NBC Washington reported Scalise left the ICU earlier this morning, but a source confirmed to The Hill that he remains in serious condition and is continuing to be treated for an infection.
Scalise contracted an infection following surgery for a gun shot wound he suffered while at a GOP baseball practice in Virginia in June.
Medstar Washington has received much criticism for allowing complications following surgery to occur, and it has been subsequently unveiled that they are one of the worst hospitals for preventing such incidents in the entire country.
Scalise’s condition is continuing to be monitored.
