A 64-year-old Omaha man was arrested by the FBI for making violent and aggressive threats against U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst, a Republican from Iowa.

The unnamed man was apprehended Friday, and will be taken to Council Bluffs for an initial court appearance, according to FBI officials.

Reportedly, the individual was threatening to assault and physically harm Ernst.

Ernst’s office referred questions to the U.S. Capitol Police. They have so far declined to comment on the ongoing investigation.
