MSNBC has issued a response to President Trump after he fired off Thursday morning tweets attacking “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.

Officially, an MSNBC spokesperson released the following statement to The New York Times:

“It’s a sad day for America when the president spends his time bullying, lying and spewing petty personal attacks instead of doing his job.”

The senior vice president of communications for NBCUniversal, Mark Kornblau, also tweeted a response of his own:

“Never imagined a day when I would think to myself, ‘it is beneath my dignity to respond to the President of the United States.'”

The president’s early-morning tweets called Scarborough “Psycho Joe” and Brzezinski “Low I.Q. Crazy Mika.” Trump then ridiculed Brzezinski for her “bleeding” face lift, for which Brzezinski responded to with her own slam on him.

Some of Trump’s Republican constituents are condemning Trump for his aggressive tweets towards the MSNBC hosts.

The DNC also issued a statement on the controversy, claiming Trump’s tweet was an attack on women everywhere.

However, the White House and conservative allies such as Fox News host Sean Hannity are defending Trump’s actions, claiming it was a longtime coming considering the offensive and negative commentary the Morning Joe couple put out daily about the president.
