Hillary Clinton’s personal physician declared that Clinton is “healthy and fit to serve” in an updated medical report provided to the campaign.
Clinton’s campaign released the “comprehensive update” on her medical information on Wednesday, in an effort to calm all the speculations and concerns over her most recent medical episode just three days prior.
Fox News said the report described Clinton’s illness as a “mild and non-contagious bacterial pneumonia.” Her physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, chairwoman of Internal Medicine at CareMount Medical in Mount Kisco, NY, said Clinton “is recovering well with antibiotics and rest.”
Clinton collapsed as she was leaving early from the 9/11 memorial service Sunday in New York City, saying she overheated, although the weather was only around 80 degrees. Several hours later, the campaign put out that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia the Friday before and would be taking a few days off to recover.
Bardack reports that in examining Clinton last week, a CT scan revealed a small sign of pneumonia in the right middle-lobe of her lung.
According to the report released by the campaign, Clinton regularly takes thyroid medication and Coumadin, a blood thinner. She was given Clarinex and Levaquin to help get rid of the bacterial infection related to the pneumonia.
All Clinton’s other tests were normal, including blood pressure, heart rate and cholesterol levels, but the report said she does suffer from allergies.
Dr. Bardack also determined Clinton is in “excellent mental condition.”
Clinton suffered a concussion in December 2012 when she fell and hit her head, reportedly because she had a stomach virus and became dizzy. Doctors discovered she had a blood clot in her head about two weeks after her fall, and gave her medication to dissolve it. She experienced double vision after the fall, and needed about six months to recover.
Just for good measure, Hillary Clinton’s running mate, Tim Kaine, put out a letter on Wednesday also from his doctor, which declared he is in excellent medical health.
While Clinton has been off the campaign trail recovering from her medical issues, she’s had a few people filling in for her. Barack Obama campaigned for Clinton in Philadelphia on Tuesday, while Joe Biden spoke for her in North Carolina. Michelle Obama is coming to the rescue on Friday in Virginia.
Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, did the honors at a $100,000-per-couple fundraiser dinner in Beverly Hills, and at campaign rally in Las Vegas.
Bill Clinton told voters in Las Vegas, “I’m glad to have a chance to stand in for Hillary today… She did it for me for a long time. It’s about time I showed up and did it for her.”
He didn’t get it quite right, however, saying Hillary had the flu when he meant pneumonia.
Fox News said, “When it comes to the Clintons, the couple is a package deal, for better or worse.”
