JUST IN: Revered Broadway actress and singer dead at 89

Barbara Cook, who was one of Broadway’s leading ladies, and later, a major cabaret and concert interpreter of popular American song, has died at the age of 89.

Cook passed away Tuesday of respiratory failure at her home in Manhattan, surrounded by loved ones, according to publicist Amanda Kaus.

Her last meal is reported to have been a favored dessert of vanilla ice cream.

Throughout her nearly six decades on stage, Cook’s voice remained exquisite and memorable for its natural ability to go straight to the heart.

Haruo Nakajima, the actor who played the original Godzilla in the 1954 Japanese classic, also died Monday at the age of 88.

A third iconic death was also reported Monday: Actor Ty Hardin, who starred as the gunman Bronco Layne in the TV Western series “Bronco,” has died at the age of 87.
