JUST IN: Trump transition team now being investigated

Special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation is amping up its efforts as Trump transition team lawyer Kory Langhofer orders campaign officials to preserve all documents related to the Russian Federation, Ukraine and a number of campaign advisers and officials, including former campaign manager Paul Manafort, advisers Carter Page, Rick Gates and Roger Stone, and former national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn, according to a memo provided to Politico and The New York Times on Friday.

The memo states that team members must “preserve any physical and electronic records that may be related in any way to the subject matter of the pending investigations. In order to assist these investigations, the Presidential Transition Team and its current and former personnel have a responsibility to ensure that, to the extent potentially relevant documents exist, they are properly preserved.”

Transition officials were also instructed to preserve materials or records related to overseas travel by transition team officials.

Vice President Pence hired lawyer Richard Cullen on Thursday to act as outside counsel in assisting him with the law enforcement and congressional probes into allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Calling the Russian probe a “witch hunt”, Trump took his frustrations out on Twitter on Thursday, questioning why Hillary Clinton wasn’t the one being investigated for colluding with the Russians when there is plenty of proof that she did.

“Crooked H destroyed phones w/ hammer, ‘bleached’ emails, & had husband meet w/AG days before she was cleared- & they talk about obstruction?” Trump wrote in reference to the FBI’s investigation into the private email server Clinton used as secretary of State.

He also went on the note the irony in the fact that his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey is the reason he’s now under suspicion of “obstruction of justice.”
