On Friday morning, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced the name of their new baby girl on Kim’s app. With the announcement came mixed reactions, with her sister Khloe chiming in with praise on Twitter, while others are much more skeptical about the appropriateness of the name.

Kim posted the words “Chicago West” on her app, indicating the name for her newest daughter, born on Tuesday at 12:47 a.m. and weighing in at 7 lbs. 6 oz.  The name quickly became a trending topic on Twitter. Kim and Kanye have a history of selecting usual baby names, as they already had a daughter named North, and a son named Saint.

The family seems supportive of the distinctive choice, however. Khloe Kardashian, baby Chicago’s aunt, wrote in a Twitter post: “LOOOOOOOOOOVE her name 😍😍😍😍 hey Chi (shy),” indicating the family may already be using a slick nickname for the infant.

Kim and Kayne used a surrogate mother to have Chicago West, and announced on her website Tuesday: “Kanye and I are happy to announce the arrival of our healthy, beautiful baby girl. We are incredibly grateful to our surrogate who made our dreams come true with the greatest gift one could give and to our wonderful doctors and nurses for their special care. North and Saint are especially thrilled to welcome their baby sister.”

The internet weighed in on the new baby name. Some examples are below.
