Comedian Kevin Hart took to Instagram this week to post a lengthy speech apologizing to his wife, Eniko Parrish, and two children for an unspecified incident.
TMZ reported on Saturday that Hart was caught in a video engaging in “sexually suggestive” behavior with an unnamed woman, although his face was obscured for the most graphic part.
The caption to Hart’s apology video read:
“Sending so many apologies to my wife & kids. I gotta do better and I will. I’m not perfect and have never claimed to be … I love you all.”
Appearing very contrite and remorseful, Hart referred to the incident as a “bad error of judgement” but did not provide any further detail.
I’m in a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back,’ he said. ‘And because of that, I should make smart decisions – and recently, I didn’t.’
The Ride Along star said that “it’s a shi**y moment when you know you’re wrong, and there’s no excuses for your wrong behavior,” explaining that he had put himself ‘in an environment where only bad things can happen – and they did.”
“I said I’d rather fess up to my mistakes,” the Philadelphia-born comic revealed. TMZ noted that possible legal ramifications include extortion as “Someone tried to set Kevin up in a failed extortion attempt. As law enforcement is involved, we cannot comment further as it could affect the investigation.”
Hart said it was a reminder that Hollywood can be a vicious place.
He said, “I know that I’m gonna hurt the people closest to me, who I’ve talked to and apologized to, being my wife and my kids … at the end of the day man, I just simply gotta do better.”
The person attempting to extort Hart released three clips and is threatening to release more. The first clip shows Hart playing around with a woman in a nightclub, then it cuts to a bed. The room is dark but creaking and slapping can be heard.
Hart, who has two children with ex-wife Torrei Hart – 12-year-old daughter Heaven and nine-year-old son Hendrix – is expecting a son with Eniko, who he celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary with last month.
