Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law and senior aide, is headed to the Middle East this week to work toward brokering a peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
According to a White House official, Kushner will arrive in the Middle East Wednesday and has meetings scheduled in Jerusalem and Ramallah. Trump’s international envoy, Jason Greenblatt, is set to arrive on Monday.
During his May visit to Jerusalem, the president made a personal appeal for peace between Israel and Palestine which he has called the “ultimate deal.”
Attempts to achieve a peace deal have been made by former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, yet none were successful in their efforts.
The White House official noted that brokering such an agreement would take time.
