According to new reports, presidential adviser Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump have deployed the services of Democratic public relations strategist, Risa Heller.
Heller, whose resume includes work for former New York Democratic representative Anthony Weiner, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and former New York governor David Paterson, has been guiding the Kushner-Trump household through its relocation to Washington D.C.
Previous Democratic donors, Kushner and Trump each reflected on the hiring of Heller. “Risa is incredibly talented, driven and passionate,” said Trump. “She is a formidable advocate and respected by all as a trustworthy and honest broker of facts.”
According to Kushner, “She’s the best fighter in the business, is universally respected, and, most importantly, has always told me what she really thinks, good or bad.”
Blended into Kushner and Trump’s respective roles within the White House, the 37-year-old is a known Hillary Clinton donor who still showcases a Clinton-themed pillow in her New York City office.
Heller’s plunge into politics began in Chuck Schumer’s communications department, eventually landing her a role as communications director for Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.). Heller was an integral voice in Paterson’s attempts to combat allegations of witness tampering, while also navigating the governor’s sex and drug improprieties.
Given her behind-the-scenes triumphs, former Rep. Anthony Weiner sought Heller’s services following the flamboyant legislator’s infamous “sexting” scandals. Lifted by hindsight, Weiner said Heller’s offerings may have prevented him from being cast away from the political sphere.
“If I had taken her advice at critical junctures even 5% of the time, I would have been infinitely better off,” Weiner said. “This may sound ironic coming from me, but she never advocates for not telling the truth. I repeatedly didn’t take that kind of advice where I should have.”
Weiner was not caught off guard when hearing that Heller was commissioned by Kushner and Trump. “It doesn’t surprise me that people like the Kushners would gravitate toward her,” Weiner observed.
Effective in her piecing together the puzzle of chaos management, Heller has recently drawn the ire of some Democratic colleagues.
Given her new clients’ obvious connections to the conservative-leaning President Trump, Heller’s entrenchment within the Republican White House has not landed smoothly in liberal New York City.
“I think there’s a big difference between representing business interests and, essentially, helping to advance an agenda that is completely antithetical to everything that Democrats stand for,” an anonymous Democratic surrogate said, according to Breitbart.com
Irked to learn she was profiled by BuzzFeed after her new clientele became public, Heller said, “I fight tirelessly for my clients, period. That’s what I am in business to do. I am proud of what I do and who I do it for.”
According to Breitbart, Jared and Ivanka, until recently, haunted the same New York circles in which these Democratic politicians are hounded by the city’s notorious tabloid press. Kushner himself has used Ms. Heller, sending her to handle the New York Times earlier this year when that paper raised questions about a deal of his in China.
