Trump’s momentum just received a huge burst of fuel.
In a sweeping victory, Republican front-runner Donald Trump won 60.5% of the votes in the New York primary, giving him 89 of the state’s 95 delegates.
Paul Manafort, head of Trump’s campaign, said Tuesday night the huge win even exceeded his expectations. Manafort vowed to push Trump past the required 1,237 delegates before the July convention in Cleveland.
Kasich did prevent Trump from exceeding the 50% threshold in three congressional districts, giving him 6 delegates.
Ted Cruz came in third place, with no delegates.
Perhaps Trump’s victory was best summarized by “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, who tweeted “The #stopTrump folks are in DEEP trouble.”
