As the story about Donald Trump Jr meeting with a Russian lawmaker in 2016 escalates in the media, lawmakers have given their statements in reaction to the news.
In an interview with CNN Tuesday, Sen. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s former running mate, was asked, “Do you think this is treason?”
He responded, “The investigation is not… nothing is proven yet…. but we’re now beyond obstruction of justice in terms of what’s being investigated. This is moving into perjury, false statements, and even potentially, treason.”
The following MSNBC interviews include comments from Sen. Lindsey Graham and Sen. John McCain.
Graham expressed concerns, saying if there is an email from the Russians suggesting that they want to help, “that would be very problematic.”
McCain said, “There will be other shoes that will drop.”
Tuesday morning, Donald Trump Jr. released the full email exchange between himself and Rob Goldstone, who arranged the meeting, after the New York Times started leaking out portions of the emails in a tantalizing drip campaign.
Sen. Tim Kaine also jumped on an interview with Univision Tuesday and spoke out against Donald Trump Jr. in Spanish:
