On the heels of the deadliest mass murder in U.S. history comes all the radical statements from the radical Left.
On his GQ show, “The Resistance,” Keith Olbermann slammed the National Rifle Association (NRA), President Donald J. Trump, and gun rights in a new video. At one point in his odious commentary, he called the NRA a “terrorist organization.”
Olberman is a sports and political commentator. He began working for GQ in September of 2016, hosting “The Closer with Keith Olbermann” during the 2016 US presidential election cycle. After Donald J. Trump clinched the win, the program title was changed to “The Resistance.”
In a new edition released Monday, titled, “Trump’s ‘Condolences and Sympathies’ Won’t Cut It,” Olberman rebukes the NRA, saying that the gun rights group enables mass shootings like the one that took place in Las Vegas on Sunday night.
On Sunday night, in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, police say Stephen Paddock shot at people from his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, killing at least 59 people and injuring more than 500 others.
On Monday morning, President Trump tweeted a message of sympathy, in which he wrote: “My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!”
Olbermann began his commentary by saying, “Warmest condolences and sympathies will not suffice. We need leadership in this country which will prevent – whatever their motive – the terrorists in this country from buying weapons in this country and killing crowds of people in this country.”
He denounced the idea of making the purchase of silencers easier, which the House of Representatives will consider this week.
Olberman then denounced the Second Amendment, quoting conservative Chief Justice Warren Burger. Olberman says Burger felt that the gun lobby’s interpretation of the Second Amendment is a “fraud on the American people.”
“Keep and bear … do not mean ‘own,’ period,” Olbermann said. “The Second Amendment is gun-control from an era where the gun was a musket and not an automatic killing-machine that could be bought and stashed on the 32nd floor of a hotel in order to shoot people, 500 at a time.”
Gun rights proponents often point out that the idea of defending the nation against foreign or domestic invaders is that the citizenry would be armed with weapons which could combat those invaders, the idea being that if the invaders come with rapid-fire guns, it would be difficult to defend America with a less capable firearm.
Olberman says it’s time to end the NRA.
Taking another swipe at the president, Olberman said, “It is time to end the career of a politician who made his way to the White House dog-whistling to his ‘Second-Amendment people,’” in reference to a phrase President Trump used while on the campaign trail.
He said America’s history is “death by gun. That must end.”
