Liberals show love for Sen. John McCain

Liberal comedian Rosie O’Donnell is spreading the love on Twitter, speaking out in admiration for none other than Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.).

McCain is once again set to put a roadblock in the path of a GOP-led repeal of Obamacare, and O’Donnell couldn’t be more proud. She, and other liberal-leaning stars, are speaking out in support of McCain’s dissent with his party.

The Graham-Cassidy bill seeks to give control of healthcare to the states, moving funds for Medicaid expansion, tax credits and cost-sharing reduction payments into block grants to the states.

McCain was one of just three Republican senators who was wavering on the Graham-Cassidy bill. If this last effort to repeal Obamacare does not pass, Obamacare may not happen at all during the Trump administration.

On Friday, McCain announced his opposition to the overhaul bill, despite the fact that McCain ran his reelection on repealing Obamacare.

O’Donnell took to Twitter, thanking him. She wrote: “First things first – you are the realest. Thank u SENATOR – for all you have given to this great nation @SenJohnMcCain.”

O’Donell included pictures of herself with the senator.

Her second tweet read: “THANK GOD FOR 4 SIR – John McCain: ‘I cannot in good conscience’ vote for the GOP Obamacare repeal bill. #HERO.” She linked the tweet to a news article about McCain’s decision to not support the bill.

Other liberals have also shown support for the Arizona senator.

Singer Cher wrote, “bless you” to McCain on Twitter, and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel called him a “hero.” Even the Women’s March wrote, “Thank you, @SenJohnMcCain, for putting the lives of millions first.@SenateGOP should follow your lead and put an end to #GrahamCassidy.”

Jon Cooper, chairman of The Democratic Coalition, is also celebrating:

While McCain is getting love from the liberals, conservatives are not happy with him. On Twitter, users are calling him a traitor, and famous game show host Chuck Woolery suggested the move was personal, and not very patriotic.
