Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) made a pledge to so-called “Dreamers”on Tuesday, saying they will not be “left behind” as debates continue regarding the future of recipients of former president Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

Graham was speaking at a Senate Judiciary hearing, where he made an impassioned plea for the plight of the recipients of DACA, which was a veiled amnesty program whose recipients are also called “Dreamers.”

He said he remembers a President Donald J. Trump who understood the need for border security and immigration reform, but who also had a desire to help the DACA recipients.

“Now, I don’t know where that guy went, but I want him back,” Graham said.

He also said the entire discussion “has turned into an ‘s’ show.”

Graham went on to make a pledge to DACA recipients, saying: “We’re not going to leave you behind … you’re going to be taken care of.”

Later, Graham told reporters “something happened” to make President Trump’s stance on immigration reform change last week. According to MSNBC, Graham said that he believes Trump has been “ill served” by his staff (see tweet below).
