Jews throughout London are outraged that Mayor Sadiq Khan refuses to ban an anti-Israel al-Quds Day march on Sunday, which traditionally flies the Hezbollah flag in support of the terrorist organization.
According to Raphi Bloom, chairman of North West Friends of Israel group, no amount of lobbying; not even a petition signed by nearly 20,000 protesters could persuade the Muslim mayor to cancel the anti-Semitic event, which is still set to take place on Sunday.
“Hezbollah is a proscribed terrorist organization. It makes NO distinction between its armed and political wing, yet its supporters will be allowed to march through London’s streets unhindered,” said Bloom. “This is extremely disappointing and challenges the mayor’s commitment to rid the streets of London of extremism. For many years this march has been rife with anti-Semitism and the fulsome support of a terrorist organization – Hezbollah. I am sure I do not need to remind anyone that Hezbollah is currently massacring Syrian civilians on behalf of President Assad and is funded by Iran – one of the major supporters of global terrorism in the world today.”
Bloom noted that Khan has not even responded to requests that the practice of regaling terrorists be stopped on the streets of London. “He may not have the power to ban al-Quds outright,” said Bloom, “but he can lobby and make direct representations to the Metropolitan Police on behalf of a concerned London Jewish community.”
The late Ayatollah Khomeini created Al Quds Day as a call for Israel to be destroyed. Co-sponsored by the Islamic Human Rights Commission, organizers claim that the so-called holiday, which coincides with the end of Ramadan, “unites for the freedom of the oppressed in Palestine and beyond,” according to Breitbart Jerusalem.
Flags of the anti-Semitic terrorist organization Hezbollah are traditionally flown on Al Quds Day to honor their sworn dedication to the destruction of the Jewish state.
Hezbollah is designated as a terror organization in its entirety by the Arab League, Bahrain, Canada, France, Israel, the Netherlands, and the United States, according to Breitbart.
In a recent letter to Khan, Bloom made it clear that the glorification of terrorists must stop. “Ten days on from the horrific terrorist attack in London it seems unbelievable that a march supporting another extremist Islamic terrorist group can go ahead freely on the streets of London with no restrictions or action from the police,” he wrote, adding, “We urge you to act and stand by your commitment to take extremism off the streets of London – and to protect the Jewish community from the anti Semitism that this march encourages.”
