Famously known for her role as America’s “most hated” contestant on President Donald Trump’s former reality show, “The Apprentice,” Omarosa Manigault Newman took a position with the Trump White House soon after the election.

On Tuesday, she announced that she’ll be leaving her job as director of communications for the White House Office of Public Liaison on Jan. 20, 2018 — exactly one year after Trump was inaugurated.

Her resignation was confirmed by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Wednesday.

“Omarosa Manigault Newman resigned yesterday to pursue other opportunities,” Sanders said in a statement provided to the Washington Examiner. “Her departure will not be effective until January 20, 2018. We wish her the best in future endeavors and are grateful for her service.”

In her duties at the White House, Manigault Newman served as the spokeswoman for the West Wing office, tasked with conducting outreach to groups and constituencies. As Trump’s chief adviser on African-American issues in the White House, she accused the Congressional Black Caucus in June of “showboating” and refusing to meet with President Trump.

Echoing the past “Apprentice” episodes, Manigault Newman’s tenure was unsurprisingly rife with stories about her frequent clashes with fellow White House aides. The former television personality made headlines earlier this year when a White House reporter, April Ryan, claimed a disagreement between herself and Manigault Newman nearly got physical.

Despite her caustic personality on the show, Manigault Newman developed a close relationship with Trump, and she’s been a loyal supporter ever since.

Her resignation comes after the White House announced earlier this month that deputy national security adviser Dina Powell will step down from her position early next year.

The two are among several aides expected to leave the administration following Trump’s first year in office.
