After countless incidents of egging over the past week, two men hailing from the Cartaret area of New Jersey were arrested on Thursday for vandalizing more than 70 cars in North Brunswick.
Dubbed the “mad eggers” by area police, 18 year-old Taranbir Singh and 20 year-old Hamza Ahmed were pinned with a handful of criminal mischief charges. After their arrest and charges were processed, the North Brunswick Police Department stated that they were released.
According to New York’s CBS2, the vandals targeted parked cars in the Hidden Lake neighborhood.
Police do not believe that either Singh or Hamza reside in North Brunswick, and are still determining the motive for the desecration of dozens of vehicles. Police are under the opinion that both Singh and Hamza targeted cars and the Hidden Lake area without reason and simply by means of convenience.
UPDATE March 3, 5:00 p.m. ET: Police posted on their Facebook page that two remaining suspects are now IN CUSTODY – Manraj Singh, 19, of Carteret and Simranjit Singh, 21, of Sayreville. They will reportedly face the same charges, and will also be released after “processing.”
