“Mad pooper” on the run for defecating in public throughout city

A strange story from Colorado Springs is making headlines, as a runner, dubbed the “Mad Pooper” by one family, has been engaged in the questionable activity of defecating in public at multiple locations in the city over the course of several weeks, including on another person’s residential property.

According to mother Cathy Budde, her children were the first to point out the vile behavior to her. She told KKTV that the unidentified woman has been “taking a poop” on the sidewalk in front of her Colorado Springs home for at least seven weeks.

Her children saw the “mad pooper” squatting, pants down, and alerted their mother.

“They are like, ‘There’s a lady taking a poop!’ So, I come outside, and I’m like, ‘Are you serious?'” Budde told KKTV. “‘Are you really taking a poop right here in front of my kids!?’ She’s like, ‘Yeah, sorry!'”

Budde said she felt certain it was an isolated case or an emergency situation; however, it turned out to be a regular occurrence, happening at least once a week. The woman doesn’t clean up the poop, and even brings napkins that she leaves behind.

The baffled mother says the woman has even altered her routine, so as to be less predictable and more difficult to catch.

“Two other times we’ve caught her — caught her yesterday — she changed up her time a little bit because she knew I was watching,” Budde recalled.

Despite Budde’s pleas to stop, the serial “pooper” remains remorseless and continues in her proclivity of relieving herself on sidewalks.

“I put a sign on the wall that’s like, ‘Please, I’m begging you, please stop.’… She ran by it like 15 times yesterday, and she still pooped,” Budde told KKTV.

Other people in the community say the woman has relieved herself on their property and revealed that the runner may be responsible for defecating in a business parking lot, too, Budde reported.

She has involved the Colorado Springs Police Department. Police are now searching for the runner and have released a photograph Budde was able to take of the suspect. In it, a brunette woman is seen running in a gray tank top and shorts.

“It’s abnormal, it’s not something I’ve seen in my career,” Colorado Springs Sgt. Johnathan Sharketti said. “For someone to repeatedly do such a thing…it’s uncharted territory for me.”
