Madonna, who originally denied rumors that she was adopting, has adopted two more children.
Madonna chose two four-year-old twin girls from the south African country of Malawi and it is reported she was subjected to harsh questioning by a judge prior to receiving approval for the adoptions.
The Associated Press reported appx. one month ago that Madonna was seeking to adopt, but the musical artist denied any such proceeding was taking place.
According to the AP, Madonna was asked “uncomfortable questions” during the adoption proceeding, though the judge was assured Madonna’s reason for adopting the children “is motivated by her desire to offer a home, love, protection and guidance to the infants.”

In her ruling, Judge Fiona Mwale wrote:
“The petitioner is a professional performer and I guarded myself against the danger of her merely reciting a well-rehearsed speech by asking her some rather uncomfortable questions to which she gave very candid answers. There is no doubt that the petitioner can offer the infants not only the best education money can buy, but also guidance with a high likelihood of ensuring that the two infants grow to be self-sufficient adults.”
Madonna said, “The children will keep their birth names as part of an effort to preserve their identity as Malawians, and a Malawian carer will travel with the children to the United States to ease their transition.”
Madonna has previously adopted children from Malawi. She filed for adoption of the twins on Jan. 25 in a high court in Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital.
According to a court document, “The twins were delivered by cesarean section and the mother died within a week because of complications from the birth”.
