Liberal HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher took to the airwaves Friday to blame Bill Clinton for Comey’s firing scandal.
During Maher’s opening monologue, he referenced the infamous meeting that took place between Clinton and then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a Phoenix tarmac last summer, which happened days before Comey announced his decision to not indict Hillary Clinton over her use of a private server at the State Department.
“A lot of this is because of Bill Clinton,” Maher said. “The reason why Comey had to say what he did is because the attorney general had to recuse herself because [Bill Clinton] walked on her plane.”
“Let’s not forget that,” he emphasized.
“Bill Clinton, once again, f**ked up his wife’s life. If Bill Clinton hadn’t walked on Loretta Lynch’s plane, then she would have been making the statement instead of Comey,” Maher ranted, adding that Comey was placed in an “almost impossible” position.
Clinton and Lynch attempted to defend themselves saying their tarmac meeting was merely by chance and they only discussed “golf and their grandchildren.”
“That’s where we are: Bill Clinton. Let’s put the blame where it belongs,” said Maher.
When Trump was interviewed by NBC’s Lester Holt earlier this week, he told him that Comey had “a lot of pressure put on and exonerated [Clinton]. He should have never exonerated her.”
The former FBI director’s mishandling of the Clinton investigation is reportedly one of the main reasons cited by the Trump administration for firing Comey.
Maher also took aim at President Trump, saying: “The main reason they said Comey had to go, it had nothing to do with Russia, it was all over how unfair he was to Hillary. This would insult Sarah Palin’s intelligence.”
